Decatur County storm damage blamed on high winds

Greensburg, In. — Decatur County Sheriff David Durant has confirmed southern portions of the county suffered extensive wind-related damage Sunday afternoon, specifically in the Letts and Westport areas.

Damage included structural harm to homes and other buildings, broken telephone and utility poles, downed trees and power lines, and toppled traffic barrels and signs.  Greensburg and other parts of Decatur County also experienced brief hail showers.

No storm-related injuries were reported to the Decatur County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Durant advises the public that may draw scammers offering fraudulent home repair packages. Officials say consult with insurance providers before signing any repair agreements or contracts, especially with door-to-door contractors. If you see suspicious persons in the area, including suspected scammers or looters, please call Decatur County Communications immediately.
