The ‘Pacman’ legal battle begins

Lawrenceburg, In. — Attorneys for Adam Pacman Jones have asked a Dearborn County judge to dismiss verbally abusive language used during a recent incident at the Rising Star Casino. Also, prosecutors are asking the court to bar anyone from commenting publically about the case.

Sometime between midnight and 3 a.m. on Wednesday, February 27 Jones was accused of tampering with a bet and becoming abusive and combative with Indiana Gaming Commission agents.

Jones has pled not guilty to intimidation, battery on a public safety official, cheating at gambling-all felonies and resisting law enforcement, disorderly conduct and public intoxication- all misdemeanors.

Dearborn-Ohio County prosecutor Lynn Deddens tells the court legal counsel for Jones, Lawrenceburg attorney Delmar Weldon, has granted media interviews before charges were filed and a review of evidence provided by the state. She contends the interviews endanger the “integrity and fairness of the proceedings.”

Judge James D. Humphrey has scheduled a hearing on the matter for Thursday, March 21.
