Congratulations to both the men’s and the women’s Batesville Bulldog track teams as they opened their season last night with two victories at home against the Greensburg Pirates. As this spring weather has been much like spring, the night started out fairly mild, but quickly began to get colder and colder as the sun continued to set. The Bulldogs proved that they could compete in both conditions as they started out the night with victories in the first relay (4 x 800) and also ended the night with a double victory in the 4 x 400m relay. ‘And one of my favorite things to report are the personal best performances. Being the first meet, there are many that set their standards tonight to work towards, but several had best results from years past to try and beat. We did have just a few that really started off the 2018 season on top, despite the cold conditions. Receiving a personal best from tonight were: Gabby Gibbs-200m dash and shot put, Rebecca Deputy-shot put and discus and Dylan Flannery-discus. Congratulations! May this list be quite a bit longer next week.’
Bluugogs Coach Lisa Gausman.
Batesville next meet will be Tuesday where they will travel to Franklin County to take on the Wildcats! Meet time begins at 5pm with the field events.
