Greensburg, In. — Officials from the Indiana Department of Transportation say motorists will experience intermittent stoppages on U.S. 421 at Sand Creek for bridge work. Indianapolis-based HIS Construction has been awarded the $1.8 million and will complete the work by October.
Preparation for the work will begin this week.
The traffic control plan for the work includes temporary traffic signals at either end of the U.S. Highway 421 structure spanning Sand Creek on the south side Greensburg. Motorists should watch for flaggers and momentary delays at the worksite about ½ mile south of State Road 46.
Crews will remove and replace the 111-foot-long bridge superstructure one-half at a time beginning the first week of April. There will be no bridge piers work.
Last year, U.S. 421 box culverts at a branch of Laughrey Creek and at Lost Fork were replaced under this contract.
