Rita M. Gesell, age 89 of St. Leon, Indiana died Tuesday, February 13, 2018 at her residence.
Born January 29, 1929 in St. Leon, she was the daughter of the late Albert & Philomena (Wedding) Wilhelm. On October 7, 1950 she was united in marriage to Robert Gesell and he survives.
Rita was retired from the former Ford/Visteon in Connersville, Indiana where she had worked for many years. She was a lifelong member of St. Joseph/All Saints Parish in St. Leon. In her leisure time she enjoyed quilting, sewing, gardening, baking, playing cards and visiting with family and friends.
Besides Robert, her loving husband of over 67 years, survivors include two daughters, Cathy (Charlie) Huth of Cincinnati, Ohio and Ruth Burkhard of St. Leon, Indiana, a granddaughter, Maggie Burkhard; several step-grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as many nieces & nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Mark Burkhard; two sisters, Alvina Meyer and Alma Hoffman; as well as four brothers, Richard Wilhelm, Harold Wilhelm, Raymond Wilhelm, and Stanley Wilhelm.
Family & friends may visit from 10:00 A.M. until 12:00 Noon on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at All Saints Parish St. Joseph Campus, 7536 Church Lane, St. Leon, Indiana.
Rev. Jonathan P. Meyer will officiate the Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 Noon on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery in St. Leon.
