Special Olympics Ripley Ohio Dearborn Hold Annual Sports Achievement Banquet

Special Olympics Ripley Ohio Dearborn held their annual Sports Achievement Banquet on Saturday, August 12, at The Kenneth L. Diver American Legion Post #337-Sunman. Athletes, coaches, unified partners, volunteers, and contributors were honored during the ceremonies.

ROD Delegation Coordinator Greg Townsend recognized the area athletes that were selected to participate in the 2018 Special Olympic US Games at Seattle, Washington in June 2018.  The athletes are Charlie Wilson-Swimming, David Paul-Weightlifting, and Alex and Abby Kieffer-Unified Bowling.  Greg also gave recognition to Chris Perdue on his success at The X-Games in Colorado and The SO World Games in Austria where he captured the Gold Medal in Snowboarding – Advanced Giant Slalom.

Special plaques were presented to Country 103.9 WRBI, Register Publications, St. John’s Lutheran Church-Hubbel’s Corner, Sign A Rama-Lawrenceburg, and WSCH for appreciation to continued support for Special Olympics.

Mary Laub was presented a 5-year pin and Brenda Hendrickson a 10-year pin for their involvement with Special Olympics.
