Dearborn County, In. — 
North Vernon-based Dave O’Mara Contracting will begin bridge deck overlays and repairs in Dearborn and Switzerland Counties around July 31, weather permitting. The $497,612 contract includes work on U.S. 50 near Tanner’s Creek in Dearborn County and State Road 56 at Indian Creek in Switzerland County.
The overlay on U.S. 50 at Tanner’s Creek will cover all four spans and increase traction. Two-way traffic will be maintained on the bridge, but shifted to accommodate work operations. Statistics show more than 17,000 vehicles per day use the bridge.
The State Road 56 bridge will be reduced to one lane and controlled with signals during construction. Statistics show the bridge handles about 3,000 vehicles per day.
The completion date for both bridges is September 1, 2017.
