Hoosier among Marines killed in Mississippi air crash

Middletown, In. — Resident of Middletown in Henry County has been identified as one of the Marines killed in a Mississippi air crash this week. Ryan Lohery died with 15 other Marines when their KC-130 crashed during refueling.

Ryan Lohery was a Navy corpsman and a 2005 graduate of Shenandoah High School. Lohery was also a member of the and will be remembered at the August 18 home game against Hagerstown.

Governor Eric Holcomb released the following statement:

“Janet and I offer sincere condolences to the family and friends of Indiana’s own Ryan Lohrey, a Navy corpsman who lost his life in a tragic plane crash this week along with 15 other servicemen. Words cannot express the depth of sorrow I feel for his wife and two young children, especially. I know Hoosiers around the state join me in honoring his service and contributions to our community and our country.”

“I’m saddened by the loss of Middletown native Ryan Lohrey who was on the KC-130 that crashed in Mississippi earlier this week. Ryan served our country with honor and we are grateful for his selfless service. He will be missed, and I send my condolences and prayers to his family and friends.”

Congressman Luke Messer released this statement:

“It is heartbreaking to learn that Ryan Lohrey of Middletown was one of the service members killed in Monday’s KC-130 crash,” Messer said. “This tragedy hits very close to home for Hoosiers and our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and those who knew him. Ryan’s service and dedication to his country will not be forgotten.”
