Board of Works approves street closures

BATESVILLE, Ind. — The board of works approved the following upcoming road closures at Monday night’s meeting:

  • Girls on the Run 5k on May 13
  • Cardinal Crawl on April 8

The Board of Works also approved a parking lot closure every Saturday from 7 – noon between May 6 and October 27 for the Batesville Farmer’s Market. This will be the parking lot on the corner of Boehringer and Main Street.

The Batesville City Council met, but discussed no business at the monthly meeting.

Jim Hodges, commander of American Legion Post 271, asked the council to consider turning the property the Legion is on over to the American Legion. Hodges stated that the building needs work and upgrades. The Legion is eligible for grants, but only if the property belongs to the Legion.

Mayor Bettice stated that the property is on a piece of land that the city owns. He stated that it is not a standard sale, and is something that needs further investigation due to several laws involving city property sale.

More details about Monday evening’s meeting and other events going on around the city, can be heard on March 15 at 9:30 on WRBI’s Coffee with the Mayor.
