The Lady Cardinals faced another experienced, physical, and fast opponent in the Lady Tigers of Greendale Thursday night. They had a battle on their hands from start to finish.
The Lady Cardinals ended the first quarter down by one at 6 to 7. In the second quarter, St. Louis went on a run and outscored Greendale 7-2, taking a 13 to 9 lead into halftime. The Lady Tigers came out in the second half to go on a quick run to get within two by the end of the third quarter. The fourth quarter proved to be a battle, with both teams going score for score. In the end, the Lady Cardinals prevailed, taking home an exciting one-point win 28 to 27 over the Greendale Lady Tigers.
The Lady Cardinals were led in scoring by Bella Watson with 13 points. Maci Smith had 11, and Solara Scheel added 4 points to the victory. Ellie Weberding and Alice Austin contributed with outstanding defensive efforts.
The Lady Cardinals host Laurel next Wednesday. The 5th grade starts at 6 pm, with the 6th grade immediately after.
