The winter USA Swim season is nearing the end for youth swimmers in the state of Indiana. This past weekend, over 700 Swimmers competed at the Southeast Indiana Divisional swim meet held at Center Grove High School in Greenwood. All competitors qualified by beating a pre-determined time cut in their events at various USA Swimming sponsored meets throughout the winter. This meet features some of the best swimmers in the southeastern quarter of the state, with swimmers from clubs such as Columbus, Fishers, Franklin, Greenfield, Seymour, Shelbyville, Milan and others. Milan Aquatics took a record 28 team members to this very competitive meet, with hopes of qualifying for the state meet held in two weeks.

Top highlights included the following swimmers:

  • St. Louis student Ross Lieland, who dropped over 45 seconds in the 500 Freestyle, placing 6th overall. Ross also swam a state-cut time in the 50 Freestyle. He placed in the top 10 of all five individual events, and in two Milan relays.
  • Milan Elementary student Cooper Mutz swam lifetime-best times in the 50 Breaststroke and 100 Breaststroke. Cooper made the podium (top 8) in both individual events and in his relay.
  • Milan Freshman Seth Thomas grabbed a 2nd, 3rd and 4th place finish in each of his individual events:  200 Freestyle, 50 Freestyle and 100 Fly (all lifetime-bests). Seth has also qualified for the upcoming state meet.
  • Logan Kramer is recognized as one of the hardest workers on the Milan team. He picked up all of his Divisional qualifying times in the second half of the winter season. Logan swam six events and two relays, placing in the top 16 in every individual event and both relays.
  • Milan Elementary student Addy Laws, in her first divisional meet, swam lifetime-best times in her two events: the 50 Breaststroke and 100 Breaststroke.  She placed in the top 16 in both events.
