Tracey went by many names: Spacey Tracey, Trace, Teensy Bell, Hey Bartender!, walking TV guide, Mommy, NeeNee, Sister, Daughter, but most of all she was a friend to all she met.  Tracey entered eternal life on Tuesday June 1, 2022 fighting to the very end.  If you knew her you would know she was a fighter.

Her spirit will carry on through her 4 surviving siblings:  Tonne Hanna, Kelly Barnes, Tara Miller, & Ray Barnes, along with her daughter Brittany Barnes,  two granddaughters: AnberShay Johns, Harmoney Barnes-Lozier, along with her many nieces and nephews.

Waiting in heaven is her daddy Gustave “midnight” Barnes, mom Patricia Barnes, childhood tormentor and partner in crime, brother Stevie Barnes, and her “sweet baby girl” niece Shaina Gray.

If you knew Tracey you know she was easy to laugh and sometimes she would tell a story or joke and would laugh so hard at herself it was hard to understand what the heck she was talking about.

Tracey loved games of all kinds, video, cards, dice, pool, darts, the list goes on, she even made up her own dice and card games which she taught to all of her family.  She was so competitive she would do anything to win, including making you stay in a chair all night until she won.  She had to have the most dimes and we can tell many stories how we were strong armed into playing until she could laugh in your face about how she was the winner and you were the loser.  Trust me this was all done in good fun and you couldn’t get mad at her because she had a laugh that would make any hard feelings go away and you are left with feeling happy she won too.  On the way home from these episodes you would get mad at yourself thinking….HOW DID SHE DO THAT TO ME AGAIN!

As a kid Tonne and Tracey set their eyes on winning stuffed poodles at the county fair, all they had to do was win a race.  There was about 20 kids with the same goal but there was no way anyone was going to get those poodles, and guess what?  Tonne has the picture of them holding up the poodles because they came in first and second.

If you have ever watched or heard the theme song from Cheers there is a line “Go where everyone knows your name” well everyone knew her name.  I can’t tell you how many times people would come up to one of us asking about Tracey, which was immediately followed with a story.

Due to her MS she could no longer experience life the way she once did but in her mind she traveled the world.  One time my kids came home from a visit and said “I didn’t know aunt Tracey traveled around the country sky diving” or “Did aunt Tracey hang out with Peter Frampton?”, “Does aunt Tracey know how to drive a big rig?”  All you could do was shake your head because what do you say.

Tracey had a wicked sense of humor, loved fantasy stories, cats, and drawing.

Tracey loved her family especially her daughter and two granddaughters, and she always lived life on her terms.  She had many gentlemen callers but none got to call her wife because there was no way anyone was going to tell her how to live her life, many tried and failed.  Motto “It’s so funny you think you can tell me what to do” which was quickly followed with Goodbye.

After a visit she would always say, “Glad you got to see me”, well sweet sister, we were always so happy we got to see you.  We will miss your laugh, one liners, but most of all as your family we will ensure the world knows what a huge impact you had on us and how you helped to shape who we are today.

Only one person could call her little sister, her sister Tonne was there to greet her to this world and she was by her side when she departed.

The family will inter Tracey on Saturday, June 11 at Greendale Cemetery, 886 Nowlin Ave, Greendale, IN 47025, at 2:00pm. In the next couple of weeks, the family will be hosting a celebration of life. Memorials can be made to Family Wishes and can mailed to Andres-Wuestefeld Funeral Home at 25615 State Rt. 1, Guilford, IN 47022.
