VERSAILLES, IN — It was a busy 2021 for Versailles Fire & Rescue.
Chief Ben Sieverding says 27 volunteer firefighters responded to 557 emergency calls last year, which averages out to 1.5 emergencies per day.
Volunteers also completed nine different certification programs.
Versailles Fire & Rescue capped off the year when it received a $40,000 grant from the Rising Sun Regional Foundation for the replacement of Self Contained Breathing Apparatus.
The department has had a busy start to the New Year.
Firefighters responded to eight emergency calls in the first two days of 2022, including a multi-vehicle accident at U.S. 50 and South Adams Street.
