2 Bulldogs, 1 Pirate Reach Podium

(Connersville, IN) — Batesville High School wrestling closed out the 2025 calendar year by testing itself against one of the deepest fields in the state at the Connersville Spartan Classic, held December 30–31.

Competing in what is widely regarded as Indiana’s largest in-season wrestling tournament, the Bulldogs placed 31st overall in a field of 45 teams, with two wrestlers earning podium finishes after two days of competition against many of the state’s top programs.

Eight Bulldogs represented Batesville at the event: Carson Weiler, Adam Dance, Charles Kline, Kaden Lamping, Adam Brewer, Huston Cook, Isaac Enneking and Drake Glaub. The team picked up early momentum as Dance, Cook and Enneking each recorded individual match victories during the tournament.

Batesville’s top performances came from Adam Brewer and Carson Weiler, who both went undefeated on the opening day to advance into the championship rounds. Weiler finished the tournament 5–2, earning a fifth-place finish, while Brewer turned in a standout run at 5–1, securing a second-place finish.  Greensburg’s Carson Beagle also appeared on the podium, with a fifth place.

The Connersville Spartan Classic drew a deep, statewide field, including several programs from the WRBI coverage area. Along with Batesville and Greensburg, local representation at the two-day tournament included East Central and South Dearborn, giving these young athletes the chance to measure themselves against familiar regional opponents as well as top programs from across Indiana.

Large in-season tournaments like the Spartan Classic are designed to test depth and durability, often placing wrestlers against unfamiliar opponents and higher-class schools. For area teams, the event served as a key midseason checkpoint ahead of January duals and conference meets.

Batesville returns to action Saturday, January 3, at a multi-team event hosted by Switzerland County, with competition scheduled to begin at 10:00 a.m.
