Sources: Reds Will Name Price As Manager

Price will be tabbed as the 61st manager in Reds history on Tuesday, according to reports.

The Cincinnati Reds have selected a new manager. Pitching Coach Bryan Price will be named as the manager at a press conference on Tuesday at 3:00 p.m.

Price, 51, has served as the Red’s pitching coach since 2010. He led the pitching staff to the fourth-best ERA in the Major Leagues this previous season and the most strikeouts in the National League.

He has agreed to a 3-year contract through the 2016 season to become the 61st field manager in club history and the 51st since 1900.

Prior to joining the Reds, Price spent ten years as a pitching coach with the Seattle Mariners and Arizona Diamondbacks.

This will be his first managerial job in the big leagues although he had reportedly been a candidate for the position with other teams in the past.

Price will succeed Dusty Baker, who was axed three days after the team was knocked out of the playoffs by the Pittsburgh Pirates.
