Sheriff Buys Pork From Ripley Co. Auction

OSGOOD — The Ripley County Sheriff’s Office is doing their part to help local farmers and 4H members.

The law enforcement agency bought twelve pigs during the Ripley County 4H Livestock Auction Friday. Half of the livestock will be processed at Napoleon Locker and Wayne’s Meat’s in Milan.

The meat will then be utilized at the Ripley County Jail. Sheriff Rodney Stratton says the meat bought at the auction will be served twice a week lasting an estimated time of 6 months.

The processed meat will be boneless pork burgers as a bone could potentially be used as a weapon, the sheriff added.

“We wanted to help the 4H members, local farmers and taxpayers,” Sheriff Stratton said. “It saves the sheriff’s office money and keeps money in the county.”
