A former Franklin County jail officer will soon find out his sentence after pleading guilty in federal court to two counts of child exploitation.

The sentencing hearing for the plea deal reached in February is scheduled for May 27 in Indianapolis.

The Richmond Palladium-Item is reporting that Walton could face a sentence between 15 and 30 years and a fine approaching $250,000 for each count. Prosecutors reportedly will not request a sentence of more than 30 years for the two charges. Walton could ask for any sentence in the statutory range, however, the judge could hand down prison time up to 60 years.

The former officer will serve at least 85 percent of the federal sentence.

Walton was arrested after agents searched his Liberty home last August. Authorities said they located electronic evidence including thumb drive hidden behind a mirror and a video camera during the raid along with sexually explicit photographs of a minor female.
