INDIANAPOLIS – Mandatory weekend drills for thousands of Indiana National Guard soldiers have been cancelled due to a funding shortage.
The $101 million budget shortfall could lead to future drill postponements. The shortfall occurred after overseas deployments were cancelled, leading to more troops home for monthly drills, WISH-TV reports.
Indiana joins several other states postponing drill due to financial issues. No word on whether October’s monthly drill will be held or cancelled.
