Lady Pirates Victorious In EIAC Play Over Lady Spartans

SoccerThe Greensburg Lady Pirates soccer team played their last EIAC match at Connersville Thursday evening and defeated the Lady Spartans 7-0.

Emma Overmyer started the scoring 70 seconds into the match when she collected a pass from Abby Bausback from 25 yards out. Abby Bailey was the next to score when she connected a direct kick from 30 yards out at the 19 minute mark. Kasey Moeller collected a loose ball two minutes later for another goal and Maddi Hellmich rounded out the first half scoring when she collected a loose ball with under two minutes to play.

Twenty minutes into the second half, Michaela Myers played her corner kick off a Connersville defender for the fifth goal of the match. Ten minutes later Overmyer connected a direct kick at the 18 yard box for her second goal. Lastly Riley McCreary scored her first varsity goal when she netted a beautiful crossing pass from Maddi Hellmich. Keeper McKella Lynette made 5 saves in the shutout victory. Also taking shots were: Julia Pacilo, Abby Bausback, Abby Easley and Emma Hellmich.

The win brings the Lady Pirates record to 6-7-2 and 2-5 to close out EIAC play.

The Lady Pirates will conclude the regular season Saturday morning when they travel to Triton Central for a 10 AM match.

The JV Lady Pirates were also victorious in their final match of the season 1-0. Sara Brown scored the lone goal when she converted a direct kick from just outside the 18 yard box. Emily Lowe made two saves in the shutout win while Easley, Pacilio and Emma Porter took shots on goal. The final record for the JV squad is 1-3-5. Both teams played outstanding and controlled possession. It was good to see the team piecing runs together and stepping harder to 50/50 balls.
