BATESVILLE – Local fans turned to social media after receiving word that comedian and actor Robin Williams passed away Monday at the age of 63.

Here are some Facebook posts we gathered from local residents Monday night:

How sad so many wonderful movies!”

“Thank you Robin Williams for always thinking outside the box. Your flawless performances in jack, Mrs. Doubtfire, and Jumangi (just to name a few) taught myself and my generation that our imagination can take us anywhere if we just believe.”

“I am in shock… RIP Robin Williams. You have made me laugh and cry with your amazing personality and performances.”

“I literally thought it was a hoax…I can’t believe he’s gone”

Known for his rapid-fire comedy, Robin Williams died at his residence in Tiburon, California, in an apparent suicide, according to the Marin County Sheriff’s Office.

His wife, Susan Schneider, said in a statement, “This morning, I lost my husband and my best friend, while the world lost one of its most beloved artists and beautiful human beings.”

“As he is remembered, it is our hope the focus will not be on Robin’s death, but on the countless moments of joy and laughter he gave to millions.”
