Cardinals Fall To Pirates In Boys Hoops

talented Greensburg Pirate team 66 to 19.

Greensburg’s 8th Grade “A” team defeated the 8th Grade SLS Basketball Cardinals in overtime 37-31 Tuesday, January 6, at Greensburg.

It took a total team effort by the Cardinals to stay with the bigger and stronger Pirates. The Cardinals led 16-10 at half time and 20-18 at the end of the third quarter. Greensburg took the lead by 2 on a three point shot with 30 seconds to go in regulation.

Robert Raver then hit a shot with 12 seconds to go to send the game into overtime. The Pirates size and depth prevailed in the end as they outscored the Cardinals in overtime by the margin of 11-5.

Sam Geisting and Robert Raver had stellar games for the Cardinals. Sam Geisting steadied the offense and led the Cardinals in scoring while Robert Raver led the team in rebounds.

The Cardinals now stand at 14-5 on the season and play at East Central Thursday evening.
