Batesville Girls Soccer Team Win Over Greenwood

SoccerThe Batesville Lady Bulldogs broke a 3 game losing streak on Saturday with a 5-0 win against the Greenwood Woodmen.

Morgan Puente got the scoring started only 2 minutes into the contest. Emily Rose was able to beat a couple of Woodmen defenders as she made her way across the 18 yard box and was able to assist Morgan Puente on the goal. Rose was able to find the back of the net for the Lady Bulldogs 2nd goal. Sylvia Phillips crossed the ball into the box where Puente was able to settle it and lay it off to Rose who finished the play. Taylor Rowlett was able to extend the lead by adding 2 goals of her own off assists from fellow freshman Baylee Rohlfing. Puente ended the scoring with her second of the match off an assist from Phillips.

“Overall, this was a much-needed game for us to regain our confidence and come away with a win. We had a lot of players step up for us today and fill vacancies in our lineup due to injuries. Our defense was excellent today. They shut down #13 for Greenwood who has 21 goals in her freshman year already. She is a very talented player and our defense made it their goal to shut her down and they succeeded all game long.” Batesville Coach Kyle Laker.

The Lady Bulldogs are back in action on Thursday as they face East Central.
