Lady Bullogs Battle Lady Olympians In Soccer

SoccerThe Batesville Lady Bulldogs traveled to Columbus to face the Columbus East Olympians. Unfortunately, the Lady Bulldogs were not able to come away with a victory. Columbus East won by a score of 4-1.

The Olympians struck first on a ball rolling in the box that #20 settled and finished into the top corner. Before the first half ended, Batesville’s Emily Rose finished a breakaway that started from a pass by our center defender Abby Brandt to even up the score at halftime. Batesville conceded the 2nd and 3rd goal of the match in the middle of the 2nd half. The Lady Bulldogs continued to battle and missed several chances on goal. Within the final minute, the Batesville GK Julia Hunter got caught off her line and an Olympian ripped a shot into the back of the net from 30 yards out to finish off the scoring.

“The score makes it sound worse than the game played out to be.
We played without several key players tonight and we kept up with a good opponent. The final score does not reflect that, but the girls worked hard and challenged Columbus East throughout the game. Gabi Garcia played excellent for us tonight. She filled a void in the center due to an injury and held her own. She was all over the field and started many of our attacking opportunities.”  Batesville Coach Kyle Laker.

The Batesville JV lady Bulldogs defeated the Columbus East JV Olympians with a final score of 3-0.

Taylor Rowlett scored all three goals with 2 assists from Audrey Weigel and 1 assist from Baylee Rohlfing. Bre Moman, Carissa Werner, and Madison Winters continue to hold strong on defense with another scoreless game.

The Lady Bulldogs take on the East Central Trojans at home on Thursday, September 18th.
