Milan’s Zac Minnich was honored along with 24 other student-athletes at the Griddy’s as one of the Prime Time 25 players for the upcoming 2017 high school football season. A very prestigious honor when considering Zac was 1 of 25 players chosen out of the estimated 18,000 varsity football players across the state of Indiana.
Zac, currently a junior at Milan High School, made a name for himself by leading the state with 1,562 yards, an average of 24.8 yards per catch, and 24 touchdowns on 63 receptions to help Ryan Langferman’s Indians (10-3) to a Class 2A sectional title in 2016. Already an owner of six school records, he has 112 career catches for 2,497 yard s and 39 scores. Along with the award, Zac will be the first Milan Indian to be on the cover of the Indiana Football Digest when the 2017 edition is released in July.
The Griddy’s have been existence for 11 years and have become known as the “ESPY’s” of Indiana High School football. Over 400 attendees gather to this banquet and awards ceremony held at The Indianapolis Colts practice facilities and pavilion to recognize the best players, coaches and media representatives in Indiana High School Football. Winners are chosen by polling more than 50 head football coaches in Indiana to get their input, as well as other prominent members of the Indiana football community. There are less than 350 Griddy awards in existence.
