Youth injured in New Castle Memorial Day parade

New Castle, Ind. — A 7-year-old New Castle boy is recovering in Riley Children’s Hospital after being injured in a Memorial Day parade.

The Henry County Sheriff’s Department says Evan Counceller was reaching for more candy when he lost his balance and fell in front of a trailer carrying the Relay For Life float. He was run over by both axles and suffered two broken ribs and bruises. He is expected to make a full recovery.
