Wood-Mizer Recognized by Governor

(Batesville, IN) – A local company has been recognized by Gov. Mike Braun for its commitment to employee well-being.

Batesville’s Wood-Mizer was presented a 2026 Governor’s Workplace Safety Award as a “Rising Star.”

The Rising Star Award category is a newly added recognition for organizations and companies in Indiana.

The governor’s office says this award highlights an organization that has positively impacted employee safety and health or demonstrated proactive measures to improving the workplace safety and health culture.

Wood-Mizer and three other companies were honored by Gov. Braun during the 2026 Indiana Safety and Health Conference and Expo in Indianapolis.

The annual event is hosted by the Indiana Chamber of Commerce and Central Indiana Chapter of the American Society of Safety Professionals in partnership with the Indiana Department of Labor’s onsite workplace safety and health consultation division, INSafe.

In addition, three people received the 2026 Everyday Safety Hero Award, which recognizes Hoosiers who championed workplace safety and health excellence in their respective workplaces.

“It is a joy to be with these companies and individuals to celebrate the ways they have prioritized health and safety at work,” said Gov. Braun. “I ran a business for 37 years, so I know the importance of workplace safety, and I applaud today’s award recipients for making it a priority.”
