(Ripley County, IN) – A single-vehicle crash on I-74 near Batesville claimed the life of a Southwest Ohio woman Monday afternoon.
Indiana State Police troopers from the Versailles Post were called to the scene near the 153-mile marker shortly before 2:30 p.m.
The initial investigation indicated a car driven by 68-year-old Darla S. Tabor of Hamilton, Ohio was eastbound on I-74 about three miles east of Batesville when she lost control of the vehicle, which went off the south side of the interstate and overturned.
Tabor was taken to a Cincinnati area hospital where she was pronounced dead by the Hamilton County, Ohio Coroner’s Office.
The investigation is ongoing.
Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be factors in the crash but toxicology results are pending.
Investigators believe that a medical condition may have played a role in the crash.
Troopers say evidence at the scene indicated that Tabor was not properly restrained in the vehicle which likely contributed to her fatal injuries.
In addition to the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office, ISP troopers were assisted by the Ripley County Sheriff’s Office, Batesville Police Department, Sunman Town Marshal, and Batesville Fire and EMS.
