(Greensburg, IN) – The Indiana Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Partnership announced this week that Zach Wirrig, City of Greensburg Director of Public Projects, received the MS4 Municipal Staff Vision of Excellence Award at the 2025 Annual Meeting.

The award is through the Indiana Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Partnership, which is a 501(c)(6) organization that assists MS4 professionals and entities with National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (NPDES) stormwater guidance and compliance.

The award presentation transcription stated that:

Zach has been filling the MS4 Coordinator role for almost one year, in which time he has shown impressive flexibility and openness to learning in his position. As Director of Public Projects, he has had to work through some unique complaints and drainage issues that really threw him into the MS4 program headfirst. He has spent a lot of time and energy building a deeper understanding of MS4 requirements and compliance. Zach joined the city right as the updated Stormwater Management Ordinance was being adopted and has been integral in discussions to also update the permitting and inspection fee schedule. Zach participates in monthly meetings held with the city’s MS4 consultant to stay on top of MS4 requirements and updates. He and other key city staff have been willing to learn more about the program and strive to keep the city in compliance, including looking for ways to improve their facilities and promoting the use of additional construction site erosion control measures.

“Zach Wirrig’s recognition as MS4 Municipal Staff Member of the Year is a testament to his dedication, adaptability, and leadership,” said Mayor Joshua Marsh. “In just a short time, he’s made a significant impact on our stormwater compliance efforts and continues to raise the bar for public service in Greensburg. We’re proud to have him on our team.”
