Winter Weather Advisory in effect until 1 Tuesday morning

(Southeastern IN) – A Winter Weather Advisory is in effect through 1 am Tuesday.

Snow accumulations up to one inch with wind gusts as high as 40 mph are expected.

The National Weather Service says to plan on slippery road conditions, especially after sunset, and that the hazardous conditions could impact the evening commute.

Forecasters say the combination of falling temperatures, strong wind gusts and snow showers may allow for the development of snow squalls, which are brief but intense bursts of snow accompanied by strong, gusty winds. Snow squalls create areas of near whiteout visibility and rapidly deteriorating road conditions, which can quickly cause development of hazardous travel conditions.

Even outside of squalls, snow showers and strong winds may cause spotty travel difficulties during the daytime, particularly for high profile vehicles.

You’re urged to slow down and use caution while traveling, especially if encountering reduced visibility.
