William (Bill) David Schuette gained his angel wings on February 17th, 2023 surrounded by his loving family and Godson. He was born June 26, 1954 to Leo and Verna (Ohlmansiek) Schuette of Farmers Retreat. His childhood and teen years were spent helping at the Schuette General Store and also delivering groceries to the community with the Huckster truck.
Bill married his high school sweetheart Cynthia Whitaker, daughter of Roy and Eleanor Whitaker at Benham Methodist Church on April 3, 1976. They grew their family to include four daughters: Bethany Ketchem (Dustin) of Logan, IN, Lacey Henson (Adam) of Lebanon, IN, Krissy Walston (Richard) of Greendale, IN, and Kelly Markgraf (Christopher) of Fort Wright, KY. As a dad he proudly sat in the stands for every sporting or extracurricular event his children participated in. He watched all four daughters graduate high school and college and proudly walked them down the aisle on their wedding day. He loved being a Papaw to Ayden and Amia Ketchem, Lyla and Adalyn Henson, and Reegan and Rory Walston. Papaw was always silly and full of tricks as he was a big kid at heart. Even the grand dogs loved spending time in the Retreat with Papaw and sleeping at his feet.
Bill was a lifelong member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, Utility Workers Union of America Local 418, and a member of the Sons of the America Legion Dillsboro Squad 292. He was employed as an electrician at American Electric Power, Lawrenceburg for 42 years and made many dear friends along the way. Bill never knew a stranger and was blessed to have many friends. His most precious times were spending time with his family, swapping stories with neighbors and friends, and driving his little red truck around the creek with his best bud Kenny Shelton.
Bill is survived by his wife, Cindy: his daughters and their families: his mother, Verna Schuette, sisters: Bonnie Schuette and Barbara Grace, brothers -in-law: Jerry Grace, Doug Whitaker, and Mike Whitaker, nephews: Matthew Whitaker, Chad Whitaker, Steve Grossman, Zayne Grossman, and Zachary Grossman, and Godson Frank Davies.
Proceeded in death by his father Leo Schuette, father and mother-in-law Roy and Eleanor Whitaker, sisters-in-law: Paula Grossman and Brenda Whitaker, and uncles: Dale Schuette and Albert Ohlmansiek.
