WESTPORT, IN — A child exploitation investigation that began in Westport resulted in a Canadian man’s arrest last week.

According to the Westport Police Department and Drumheller Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Westport Town Marshal Joe Talkington began investigating incidents involving a man having sexually explicit conversations with a 16-year-old victim.

The Mounties worked with Talkington, Decatur County Child Services, Homeland Security, and ICE to identify and arrest 45-year-old Shawn Albrecht at his home in the western Canadian province of Alberta last Wednesday.

Albrecht is facing charges of making sexually explicit material available to someone under 18, luring a child, possession of child pornography, and accessing child pornography.

He is scheduled to appear in a Canadian courtroom on February 18.
