Election officials are sending out a reminder to Hoosiers planning on voting during the May Primary season. The last day to verify, update or start a voter registration is Monday, Apr. 7.
“Hoosiers who fail to register will not be able to vote on May 6,” said Secretary of State Connie Lawson. “The voter registration deadline is right around the corner. I encourage everyone who is not registered to register today to make your vote count.”
Updated voter information is required for anyone that has recently moved into a new county or turning 18 before the General Election. Secretary Lawson said those celebrating their 18th Birthday before the November Election can register to vote and vote in the Primary Election.
Voter registration can be updated at a county clerk’s office, any BMV branch or at Indiana Voters website.
In-person absentee voting begins Tuesday, Apr. 8. Ripley County voters can fill out the ballot at the county courthouse from 8 a.m. until 4 p.m. Monday through Friday.
Military families are encouraged to remind those serving overseas to register and request an absentee ballot. Active duty military members and their spouses should register to vote and apply for an absentee ballot by completing the Federal Post Card Application to ensure they receive their absentee ballot on time. The application can be completed online at Federal Voting Assistance Program.
Voters may also request an absentee ballot and verify their polling location on Indiana Voters.
