A Ripley County man was airlifted Sunday following a single vehicle accident near Osgood.
Deputies with the Ripley County Sheriffs Office were dispatched to the scene at 11:03 a.m. The accident occurred on C.R. 200 W near Osgood.
Police said a 1994 Ford Taurus had been traveling north on the road near the intersection of CR 100 N, when for unknown reasons it left the roadway and struck a utility pole, snapping it in half, and coming to rest near a residence.
The driver, Tony Buchanan, 51, of Versailles was trapped inside the vehicle and Osgood Fire deployed the “jaws of life” to free him from the wreckage.
Buchanan was flown from the scene to University of Cincinnati Hospital for non-life threatening injuries. His current condition is unknown.
Sheriff Tom Grills said alcohol may have been a contributing factor in the crash.
“The crash is still under investigation and charges could follow near the completion of the investigation,” Grills said.
