U.S. 421 in Napoleon reopens with added stop signs

Napoleon, IN — After a summer of traffic headaches caused by a bridge and pavement replacement project, U.S. 421 in Napoleon is back open – but there’s a twist.

The intersection of 421 and State Road 229 has been converted to a four-way stop.

INDOT says all traffic on 421 is now required to stop at the intersection with 229 before proceeding through town.

However, a number of residents say they’ve seen drivers plowing through the newly-installed stop sign out of habit.

Local first responders are urging motorists to be extra careful when driving through Napoleon until everyone gets used to the converted four-way stop.

In the meantime, INDOT says there will be additional work in the area in the next few weeks that will be finished under flagging.
