(Greensburg, IN) – Two new people have been sworn in as Decatur County Sheriff’s Office Crisis Intervention Team members.

Sheriff Bill Meyerrose administered the oath to John Bundick and Tiffiani McFarland as CIT field deputies.

The CIT is a partnership between the sheriff’s office, Greensburg Police, Decatur County and the City of Greensburg that gives first responders the ability to keep people having a mental health or substance abuse crisis from landing in jail or the emergency room.

Another goal of the program is to cut down on recidivism.

It’s funded for the next five to six years by a $5 million grant the Decatur County Community Foundation received from the Lilly Endowment.

Meyerrose also swore in Debbie Hernandez as the county Sex or Violent Offender Registry Coordinator.

“Each person brings a unique set of skill sets to our community and we are truly blessed to have them all,” Meyerrose said.
