Two local heroes honored by Representative Frye

Versailles, IN On Tuesday, both Sergeant Jared Black with the Indiana State Police-Versailles and Ripley County Dispatcher Brittany Herbert were recognized by State Representative Randy Frye for their efforts in rescuing Chloe Strassel from her burning vehicle after she crashed on County Road 600 North in Ripley County on August 23.

After crashing her vehicle, Strassel called 9-1-1 as her vehicle caught fire. Dispatcher Brittany Herbert answered the call and obtained crucial information that she provided to Sergeant Black who was in the area and able to arrive at the scene in time to free Strassel from her vehicle before it became engulfed in flames.

Representative Frye said, “These folks are the real heroes out here that put their lives on the line to rescue this young woman.  Dispatcher Herbert and Sergeant Black are true heroes and needed to be recognized, and it was my honor to do so.”
