Two Batesville baseball pitchers team up in shutout victory against New Palestine

Batesville’s varsity baseball team defeated New Palestine 7-0 on Saturday as two pitchers combined to throw a shutout. Cade Kaiser induced a fly out from Adam Rickey to finish the game.

Batesville got on the board in the first inning when Eli Loichinger singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs.

One bright spot for New Palestine was a single by Ben Morwick in the first inning.

Charlie Schebler led things off on the pitcher’s mound for the Bulldogs. The righty allowed two hits and zero runs over six innings, striking out nine and walking one.

Nolan Cox was on the hill for New Palestine. The hurler went one inning, allowing five runs on four hits and striking out one. Henry Thorp threw five innings in relief.

Batesville had ten hits in the game. Schebler, Chris Lewis, and Loichinger all collected multiple hits for the Bulldogs. Lewis and Schebler each collected three hits to lead the team.

Batesville plays at East Central on Monday. First pitch is at 5:30 pm.
