Two Arrested Following Traffic Stop

(Bartholomew County, IN) – Two Jefferson County residents were arrested Monday morning following a traffic stop on I-65 in southern Bartholomew County.

Indiana State Police at the Versailles Post say a trooper stopped a car after a traffic violation. The trooper discovered a passenger in the vehicle, 37-year-old Robert McGaughey of Dupont, was wanted on a warrant out of Jefferson County for Maintaining a Common Nuisance.

Two other troopers and ISP K-9 Bosco arrived on the scene and alerted to a smell of illegal drugs inside the car.

A search of the vehicle turned up methamphetamine, syringes and drug paraphernalia.

The driver, 26-year-old Dahlia Jester of Madison, was transported to the Bartholomew County Jail where approximately 10 grams of suspected Methamphetamine, was allegedly concealed on her.

McGaughey was arrested on the warrant and will be locked up in Jefferson County while Jester was jailed on preliminary charges of Possession of Methamphetamine, (Level 4 felony): Trafficking with an Inmate (Level 5 felony), Possession of Syringe, (Level 6 felony), and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia (Class C misdemeanor).
