After the storms moved through Tuesday night, it had looked as if the Twisters would be rained out again for the second consecutive day. However, Liberty Park was ready for action Wednesday night as the Twisters defeated the Seton Catholic Cardinals 6-0.
The story of the game was the starting pitcher for the Twisters, Zach Hoff. Hoff pitched all 7 innings throwing 90 pitches, only allowing 1 hit, 2 walks, while striking out 13 Cardinals. “It’s great to see Zach go the distance for us. He hasn’t pitched much this season as he’s had to be our catcher due to injuries. However, the times he has pitched he has been efficient and effective for us.” Kolks said after the game.
The Twisters have had an up-and-down past 3 days. They traveled to Centerville and lost 8-5, then they were supposed to face their sectional opponent in South Decatur but that got rained out. “These last few weeks I feel like we have been playing some of our best ball. The scoreboard at the end may not reflect that, but the amount of errors we’ve been having has gone down, strikeouts have gone down, balls in play have gone up. That’s a great recipe for success during this time of the year.” Kolks added.
