Twisters Leave Waldron Whirling

(Waldron, IN) – Oldenburg Academy set the tone early and never looked back, rolling to a 49–13 nonconference girls basketball victory over Waldron Tuesday afternoon (Dec 30).

The Twisters jumped out to a 20–4 lead after the first quarter and carried a 29–6 advantage into halftime, using defensive pressure and balanced scoring to control the game from start to finish. Oldenburg improved to 12–2 on the season, while Waldron dropped to 5–7.

Oldenburg limited Waldron to single-digit scoring in three of the four quarters, holding the Mohawks to their lowest point total of the season. Waldron struggled to establish an offensive rhythm against Oldenburg’s half-court defense and transition pressure.

Grace Fischer led Oldenburg Academy with 15 points and 12 rebounds, recording a double-double to pace the Twisters. Emerson Lindsey added three assists, helping Oldenburg move the ball efficiently throughout the lineup.

Oldenburg continues a strong stretch of play and will remain on the road with a 7:30 p.m. game Friday at Jac-Cen-Del.

Waldron will have an extended break before returning to action Jan. 15, when the Mohawks host South Decatur in a 7:30 p.m. tipoff.
