Traffic stop leads to alleged drug and firearm charges

Greensburg, IN—On the evening of November 30,  an officer with the Greensburg Police Department observed a blue passenger car on N. Michigan Ave. near Veteran’s Way commit traffic violations.
The officer initiated a stop on the driver who was identified as Jason James, 42, of Mooresville. During the stop, the officer observed a firearm in the vehicle. The officer asked James if there were any more firearms in the vehicle,  in which James stated that there was.
As the officer inspected the firearms, he noticed that the serial number on the firearm had been removed. The officer located a second firearm in the vehicle, which also had the serial number removed.
As officers continued to investigate the incident, a crystal substance was located which was alleged to be consistent with Methamphetamine. James was placed into custody and charged on allegations of Possession of Handgun with Serial Number Removed, Possession of Methamphetamine, Driving While Suspended, and Possession of Paraphernalia.
