South Dearborn hosted a 12-team invitational.  Lawrenceburg swept both meets.  South Ripley and Greensburg finished second and third in the girls while Greensburg and South Dearborn took second and third in the boys.

The Lady Raiders Lanie Nicholson was named the invite’s MVP for the girls as a three-time winner in the 800, 1600 and 3200.  Greensburg’s Emarie Jackson broke the girls’ school record and invite record in the discus with a throw of 142’10”.

At the Bill Self Invitational, the Batesville girls were second to host Franklin Community and the Bulldog boys placed third behind champion Perry Meridian and runner up Franklin.  Connersville also participated and placed fourth in the boys meet and fifth in the girls.

In high school track, Jac-Cen-Del hosted a tri meet and finished second to Morristown in both.  Hauser placed third in each.

In middle school track, Batesville’s girls beat East Central 65-54 while the Trojan boys beat the Bulldogs 77-42.

BMS individual wins came from Ella King, Cannon Clark abd Dylan Comer with two each.  Sydney Gilland, Mimi Smith, and Katie Lipps picked up one.

Batesville’s Lisa Gausman- It was finally a very pleasant evening for a track meet and the Batesville High School Girls and Boys traveled to Franklin Community High School to compete in their 22nd annual Bill Self Invitational.

The girls just missed the championship trophy losing to a very talented Franklin Community High School team 152-143.5. Martinsville was 3rd with 110, followed by Perry Meridian-89.5, Connersville-48, Shelbyville-39 and Jennings County-27. The boys captured 3rd place at 101.5 points with Perry Meridian winning the Invitational-129 points and Franklin Community Runner up at 113. Connersville was 4th at 99 points, followed by Jennings County-69, Shelbyville-58.5 and Martinsville-42.

After the 4 x 800m relay and before the regular meet started, Franklin Community honors one girl and one boy senior to receive the Bill Self Service Award from each school. This year from Batesville, Lily Pinckley and Benjamin Moster were named the winners of this award. Congratulations Lily and Benjamin.

On the oval, the big winner of the night, bringing home 3 individual championships was Eli Pierson, running the sprint trifecta for the evening. He first won the 100m dash (11.25), then the 400m dash (52.13) and finally the 200m dash (23.11). Way to go Eli! Other champions for the night were: Kaylie Raver-800m run (2:30.94), Lily Pinckley-1600m run (5:41.65), Kaylynn Bedel-3200m run (12:02.69), Veronica King-discus (102’10”) and the girls 4 x 800m relay of Megan Allgeier, Kaylynn Raver, Lily Pinckley and Kaylie Raver (10:21.68). Connersville’s Jeff Cooley- The Spartan boys track and field team had a strong showing last night at the BillSelf Invite. Top finishers were: Micah Buchanan and Carter Deboard finishing 3rd and 4th in the 100, Micah Buchnan 3rd in the 200, Parker Sweet won the110 hurdles and was second in the 300 hurdles, The 4×100 team of (Sweet Buchanan Hornsby DeBoard) finished first, Blaine Hornsby was 2nd in the high jump and Lucas Barron was 4th, Braydon Jones was 2nd in the pole vault, Carter DeBoard won the long jump.

The Girls track and field team finished 5th. Placing in the top 5 were Kierra Mckinney 5th in the long jump, Kaitlyn Seesly 4th in the 400 dash, Raykaya Dixon 4th in the 800, Lexi Barr 4th in the 100 hurdles, Brooke Sudhoff was 1st in the pole vault. The next meet for the Spartans is Saturday at the Eaton Invite.

Batesville Middle School’s Meghan Fledderman- The coaches are very proud of the BMS track athletes. The kids worked hard to run with a skilled East Central Middle school team! The girls came away with a victory, 65-54. The boys fought hard but weren’t able to come away with the win, 42-77.
