Tornado Confirmed in Ohio County

(Ohio County, IN) – The National Weather Service confirms an EF-1 tornado touched down in Ohio County on Tuesday.

Forecasters say the tornado developed near the Ohio-Switzerland county line just north of Knigga Road, and moved northeast as it crossed Aberdeen Road.

A garage and a barn were destroyed, with much of the debris lofted high into trees behind the barn.

The twister continued east through wooded and inaccessible areas, and crossed Bear Branch Creek and Texas Gas Road before dissipating near Milton Bear Branch Road, where trees were uprooted.

The estimated maximum wind speed along the path was 100 mph.

The tornado was on the ground from 5:52 to 5:57 p.m. and covered 3.4 miles.

There were no injuries or fatalities reported.
