Toni Marie Belter, age 44 of Indianapolis, Indiana, and formerly of Batesville, Indiana, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026, at the Franciscan Heart Center in Indianapolis. Born November 27, 1981, in Cincinnati, Ohio, she is the daughter of Larry L. Belter and Rosemary (Nee: Reis) Belter. Toni was a Nanny for families in the Indianapolis area.
Toni or “Pony” as her immediate family members knew her as, grew up and dabbled in jazzercise, rollerblading, volleyball, and cheerleading. She most enjoyed spending time with friends and swimming hot laps in the pool around Bobbie. Toni was easy to spot in any room as she always displayed an infectious and flawless smile; so much in fact, that her classmates voted her best smile for the 2000 Batesville High School Class. Afterwards, she attended Indiana University where she enjoyed cheering the Hoosiers on. Although Toni would later call Indianapolis home, it was her time in Bloomington that she found her true calling in life: being a nanny. She tended to many children over the years that brought her so much fulfillment and joy. Each one always held a special place in her heart. Toni was also an animal lover with a particular fondness for cats. No stray cat ever made it past her house. She possessed a kind, forgiving heart and always saw the good in people. As part of her selfless gesture, she gave the gift of life through organ donation. A true testament to her character.
Toni is survived by her mother Rosemary Belter of Batesville and father Larry Belter of Batesville; sisters Bobbie (Matt) Bernhardt of Evansville, Indiana and Dannie (Dalton) Jones of Greensburg, Indiana; nieces and nephews Payton, Pierce, and Paige Bernhardt and Jack, Quinn, and Alex Jones.
Toni was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents Alvin and Velma Belter and maternal grandparents Robert and Estella Reis.
