In a 3A-31 football clash of top-10 opponents Friday, host No. 5 Lawrenceburg beat previously unbeaten No. 6 Brownstown Central, 35-14, to capture its 21st sectional championship.

It also was the third straight title and fifth in the last six years for LHS and coach Ryan Knigga.

Two second quarter touchdown runs of 61 and five yards by Teagan Bennett staked the Burg to a 21-7 halftime lead.  The Braves never got closer than 13 points the rest of the night.

Bennett led LHS in rushing with 17 carries for 166 yards and three scores.  Teammate and quarterback Garrett Yoon had 145 yards of total offense, rushing for 80 and two TDs and throwing for 65 more on 4-of-7 passing.

Brownstown QB Carson Darlage, who had 217 yards rushing the week before against Batesville, got his fair share again against the Tigers as well.  The junior ran the rock for 162 yards on 23 totes but only found the end zone once.  BC ends its season at 11-1.

The fifth-ranked Tigers travel to play at No. 2 Gibson Southern in a 3A regional on Saturday at 6 pm EST.  Both teams are 11-1.  The Titans pounded Heritage Hills 42-7 to claim Sectional 32, their fourth championship and first since 2015.
