
(Decatur County, IN) – We have an update to a story we first told you about you on Monday.
Three people were hospitalized following a head-on crash that happened around 9 p.m. Sunday on State Road 3 near North Decatur High School.
The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office says a 2001 Chevy Blazer driven by 66-year-old William Gardner of Greensburg, collided with a 2023 Subaru Crosstrek driven by 59-year-old Denise Johnson of Oldenburg.
Deputies took statements indicating the Crosstrek was northbound on State Road 3 near County Road 300 North; the Blazer was southbound and crossed into the northbound lane where both vehicles collided.

Gardner had to be extricated from his vehicle.
Both drivers were airlifted to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis.
A passenger in the Crosstrek was taken by ambulance to Decatur County Memorial Hospital.
State Road 3 was shut down for about an hour for the initial investigation and to clear away the wreckage.
It has not been determined if drugs or alcohol were contributing factors in the wreck, which is still under investigation.
The Decatur County Sheriff’s Office received assistance from the Clarksburg and Greensburg fire departments; Decatur County, Letts and Milroy EMS; Lifeline Helicopters, the Greensburg Police Department, and TDS Wrecker Service.
