Thomas Carl “Tom” Fortner, 64, of Sunman, Indiana, passed away Friday, November 11, 2022, in Sunman, Indiana.
He was born April 30, 1958, in Ripley County, IN, son of the late Robert David Fortner and Linda (Weseman) Fortner.
He served his country as a member of the United States Army. Tom was very Patriotic and was proud of his 12 years of service. He also belonged to the DAV.
He worked as a welder for Heartland Industries. In his younger years, he was a member of St. John Lutheran Church and attended St Johns school. He graduated from Aurora High School in 1977.
Tom enjoyed hunting, fishing, mowing grass, John Wayne Movies, watching NCSI, and Walker Texas Ranger. Tom’s favorite time was spent with family, especially his grandchildren.
Tom is survived by his loving spouse of 46 years, Gail (Chalk) Fortner, children, Thomas Michael (Nicole) Fortner of Brandenburg, KY, Erin Nicole Fortner of AR; siblings, Danette (Richard) Clift of Pendleton, KY, Berney (Sandy) Fortner of Huntington, WV, Monté (Rebecca) Mallory of Moores Hill, IN; grandsons, Adam James Fortner, Liam Thomas Fortner.
He was preceded in death by Father, Robert David Fortner; Mother, Linda Fortner; son, Robert David Fortner.
Friends will be received Thursday, November 17, 2022, 12:00 pm – 2:00 pm at the Rullman Hunger Funeral Home, 219 Mechanic Street, Aurora, IN.
Services will be held at the Funeral Home, Thursday at 2:00 pm, immediately following visitation.
Interment will follow in the River View Cemetery, Aurora, Indiana. Military graveside services will be conducted by the Southeastern Indiana Honor Guard.
