This year, the festival will be presented with a few updates, according to Event Chair, Regina Siefert. “My co-chairs, Amber Cochran, Bill Rethlake and I, felt the BHF needed to be refreshed, so we dug up the original script and did a few rewrites…It didn’t flow as well as we thought it could. We are pleased with the end result and the addition of a dance component. The audience will appreciate the timeless carols sung throughout the Festival, the sing-along at the end, and the explanation of traditions from English Renaissance, some so timeless that they are still common today. And of course, the beautiful period costumes always make a splash.”
Attendees are encouraged to bring the whole family to this freewill offering event. Space is limited and seating is not reserved. The Boar’s Head Festival is a great way to put you in the Christmas spirit. Music Director Bill Rethlake adds, “It’s fun to be part of something so many people enjoy starting their Christmas season with… Sister’s Chapel gives the Boar’s Head Festival such a reverent atmosphere – I love it.”
Attendees are also invited to come early on Saturday the 7 to enjoy the many offerings at Holidays Under the Spires. This Christmas extravaganza begins with breakfast with Santa, and features specials throughout all the shops and restaurants in Oldenburg, a craft fair, horse-drawn trolley rides, and Christmas choirs and performances in the Chapel.
