The 5th Grade Lady Cardinals take down Laurel

The Lady Cardinals traveled to Laurel to take on the Yellow Jackets on Tuesday evening. The Cardinals started off dominating the inside by scoring nine points in the first quarter and only allowing their opponent to put up 3. The Yellow Jackets came roaring back to score 9 points in the second quarter. The Lady Cardinals would not be denied and kept fighting while adding another six to the scoreboard leaving a halftime score with the Cardinals up by 3. (15 to 12) Both teams battled hard in the third while the starters on both teams took a break. At the start of the 4th quarter, The Lady Cardinals were down by one (18 to 17). The Cardinals have been playing a tough 2 – 3 defense all year and they put it on display at the right time. The Yellow Jackets could only muster another two points for the entire fourth quarter while the lady cards dropped in 10 to own the 4th quarter and get the win 28 to 19.
It was a well-rounded game with every fifth grader scoring points. Sophia Hillenbrand, Eloise Hamilton, and Heidi Schneider all scored two points. Katie Hammond added six points and Isla Padgett dropped seven on the yellow jackets. Reagan Siefert topped all scorers with nine to finalize the Third win of the season which brings the record to 3 – 2.

The lady Cardinals will be at home Thursday evening to take on Greendale Elementary School.
