GREENSBURG — Decatur County Memorial Hospital has launched a new program called Thankful Hearts, giving patients and families a simple way to recognize the hospital staff who made a difference during their care.
The program allows people to send personal messages of thanks to any employee or department at the hospital — from nurses and doctors to technicians and environmental services. There is no required donation to participate, and messages are shared directly with the honored caregivers.
The first recipient is April Nowlin, a Nuclear Medicine Technologist in Radiology, who was recognized for her compassion and dedication by a grateful patient. Nowlin performs advanced imaging tests that often take longer than typical X-rays, allowing her to spend more time with patients providing reassurance and care.
“Knowing that something I did made a difference in a patient’s life means so much to me,” Nowlin said.

Patients and families can submit thank-you notes online at dcmh.net/foundation or through forms available inside the hospital.
The program aims to strengthen the bond between patients and caregivers by celebrating kindness and compassion close to home.
